The Monroe County Fairgrounds
where you watch the eclipse makes a big difference!
Many eclipse enthusiasts are already familiar with the idea of gaining extra time in totality by watching a solar eclipse as close to the center of the eclipse path as possible.
Less well-known is the importance of watching from a location with a wide-open aspect.
The yellow path in this image depicts the exact path of the sun over the Shadowfest site on eclipse day. Wide-open site lines at the Fairgrounds and across neighboring Karst Farm Park will give watchers the chance to see a 360-degree sunset – a stunning site only visible during a total solar eclipse.
